Adding games
We try our best to simplify the way that players and game developers can add new games.
For now, we have two options, IGDB (recommended) and Itch.io.
IGDB (Recommended)
Using IGDB is the recommended way for this reasons:
- 1. Adding your game to IGDB makes the game available to select as category in Twitch platform.
- 2. The API gives us all the data to import: developer, category, platforms...
- 3. The API is public so you don't need to be the owner of the game to import a game.
- 4. There's probably more services using the IGDB API, so you might be able to use it in the future.
While for now is the recommended procedure, we will keep looking for new & most comfortable ways to import games in the future.
Itch.io
Using Itch.io API requires you to log-in using the itch.io account that have access / ownership of the games you want to import.
We really love Itch.io and would be more than happy to be the recommended way to import games, but sadly Itch.io doesn't provide much data through their API. On top of that, only the accounts that have access to the game are accessible through the API.
This turns this step to a multistep, where you can bring a part of the information through the API, but requires adding manual data after that.
